Hi, I'm Amy

Hello,

I’m Amy and welcome to my site. I am a child of God. An almost empty nester. A lover of all things simplified. A debt free and do it yourselfer. After years and years of over working and over commitment, I have been on a journey to slow down, simplify my life, and make more time for myself and my husband.

Almost Empty Nester

I'm Amy, Empty Nester

My last child is a senior in high school this year. I am just so proud of her. She has worked so hard to be where she is. Her GPA and SAT scores will allow her to go to college wherever she chooses, and she wants to be a GATOR! God had given me my greatest desire, a little girl. Almost 18 years later, I am just blown away every time I look at her. I know she is just a girl, but she is my walking talking gift from God and in the blink of an eye, she will be gone to college. I guess I better get started on my bucket list.

I have always loved and craved organization, but I have not always been able to achieve that in my own life. As an over achiever, I have been overworking and over committing for most of my life. The busier I became, the more desperate I became for order and organization. A few years ago, I started on my journey to simplify and organize anything and everything in my life. I find the whole process addicting. The more excess that I get rid of in my life, the harder I look to find more to get rid of. I am not a minimalist and never will be but there is a sweet spot for me somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. I love to organize and to help other people to the same.

Debt Freedom

I'm Amy and debt free

After years and years of living paycheck to paycheck, my world changed overnight. One day I was married, the next day I was getting a divorce. I had a job that barely covered my mortgage with nothing extra for food or electricity. I had three kids that depended on me, so I had to do something. I heard about Dave Ramsey though a local church. It felt like I was being given a golden ticket that would set me free if I used it the right way. I listened to him on the radio and internet so much that I could hear him in my head telling me what to do. I used the Dave’s baby steps to get out of debt. I truly believe that those baby steps saved my life. I am now debt free including my home. One of my greatest passions is telling people about debt freedom.

Do It Yourselfer

I'm Amy do it yourselfer

As a child, my mom would take me to yard sales every Saturday. It was my favorite thing to do and still is to this day. My mom was on a very limited income, so I learned to look for the things that I needed or wanted at these sales or just look at a picture of what I wanted and try to make it myself. I have made so many things for our home that have save me tons of money through the years. I have made built in closets, bed frames, pump house for our pool pump, deck furniture, and washer and dryer pedestals with repurposed or material that we had on hand. I just smile when my husband proudly tells his friends that our home is out of homes and gardens and that 90% of it came from yard sales or goodwill.
