My Gift From God: Negotiations With God

I have wanted a daughter since I was a litter girl. When I was pregnant with my first child, I decided that it would be ok if I had a boy the first time although I kept praying for a girl. Thinking back at my talk with God, I just can’t believe that I actually tried to negotiate with him. God has shown me so many times that he knows what I need, even if I don’t. It reminds me that he is in control so that I can let go of that control,

My Gift From God: My Little Man

Blessings from God my little man

My first child was a boy, and he was my little man with those cute little overalls and beautiful blue eyes. He became my world. He was obsessed with Barney and trains. From peeing in the front yard as a toddler to running into the fence with his 4×4 power wheel truck at five, he was an amazing child. He was just so smart; he was thinking all of the time about how things worked. He past his driver’s test without studding. Don’t worry, he is a good driver. I am so glad that God blessed me with my little man.

Four years later, my second child was born. The doctor had assured me after 2 sonograms that it was a girl. At the 3rd sonogram at 8 and 1/2 month pregnant, he informed me that it was not a girl but a Boy. Her (I mean his) room was already decorated with pink and grey elephants, and you couldn’t fit another dress in the closet. I was still mad at the litter stinker when he was born. To this day, he has the best sense of humor. He has blessed my life in so many ways. I just can’t imagine my life without him. A reminder that God knows what he is doing.

Still, I prayed and prayed for my girl. I had been reading that the father’s genes determine the sex of the baby. I only wanted one more child and my middle son was already 12, so I thought it couldn’t hurt to try.

13 years later as I had my sonogram, I said, “are you SURE it’s a girl,” The doctor said, “Positive” and smiled as he circled my daughter’s girly parts on the sonogram picture and gave it to me. Tears just rolled down my face. God had given me my greatest desire. It is hard to describe the feeling of having a prayer answered after you have been praying for it for so many years. God made her exactly the way I had her pictured in my heart. She is sweet and kind. She is beautiful inside and out. She is so smart she is at the top of her class.

Almost 18 years later, I am just blown away every time I look at her. I know she is just a girl, but she is my walking talking gift from God and in the blink of an eye, she will be gone to college. God’s timing is perfect. He always answers prayers. It might not be in the way you expected but he does give you what you need at just the right time. God is good. Here is another post about blessings and God’s timing. The Gift Of Christmas Blessings

Christmas was right around the corner. There were so many things to get done, but at the top of my list for the day were the decorations. So I climbed into the attic to begin my yearly journey, hauling big boxes that were overflowing with decorations back down the stairs without breaking my neck. I had to pick and sort through all of the Christmas boxes to find the ones that I needed. There was just so much stuff. My snowman collection was taking over.

  • Attic Declutter During Christmas Chaos

I have been on a journey to simplify my life for the last few years. It feels as though it has become an addiction for me. Doing an attic declutter during Christmas chaos sounded like a good idea in my head, but I am famous for biting off more than I should chew so this was normal for me. Sometimes I find the urge to declutter during the strangest times like in the middle of the Christmas chaos so Let The Decluttering Begin.
